Revolutionizing Partial Hand Prosthetics: The Next Generation of Usability and Innovation

The advancements made in developing this redesigned partial hand prosthesis are nothing short of extraordinary. This hybrid system seamlessly integrates top-of-the-line components with custom-made carbon and silicone parts, resulting in the most functional and adaptable partial hand solution available today.

Gripping Innovation: How Our Advanced Partial Hand Prosthesis Works

At A Step Ahead Prosthetics, we’ve spent years at the forefront of prosthetic innovation, designing and fabricating socket interfaces for some of the world’s most advanced myoelectric prosthetic hands. Yet, in many cases, the most practical solution lies in combining different technologies—such as body-powered hands—with flexible materials, moving away from traditional rigid sockets.

Our latest innovation exemplifies A Step Ahead’s guiding principle: Form follows function.

At the core of this prosthesis is a carbon-graphite frame, integrated seamlessly with a durable silicone palm. This combination offers the necessary rigidity to support the finger system while incorporating our proprietary ASAP Oppositional Arch™ grip. This unique grip design significantly enhances the flexion force of the finger system, providing a more effective and versatile palm surface. It’s all about delivering practical functionality without unnecessary complexities.

Custom Fit and Maximum Control: The Benefits of a Personalized Approach

The prosthesis features a flexible silicone sleeve, precisely molded from a 3D scan of the residual limb. This custom sleeve is paired with rigid carbon components, ensuring firm anchoring points for the multi-articulating finger system while allowing free wrist movement. The BOA® system, attached to a carbon-graphite forearm suspension band, enables the user to dial in the exact amount of pre-tension required for various tasks, offering a level of control that is both intuitive and responsive.

The elastomer socket, with its integrated axis point, works harmoniously with the carbon-silicone palm grip, maintaining a comfortable and secure fit. This is just one of the many partial hand prostheses we’ve designed and fabricated for our patients over the years. Each prosthesis is fully customized to meet the unique goals and needs of the individual.
