This is easily the toughest thing we’ve ever had to write…the world has lost a good man and a good friend in Phil Kreuter, who passed away yesterday two weeks after suffering a massive stroke. Those who knew him will take comfort in the fact that he was at peace and surrounded by his family.
Phil was one of A Step Ahead’s longest-tenured employees and leaves behind a rich legacy of helping those in need. Hundreds of our patients credit his therapy and training as being one of the keys to their relearning how to walk, run, bike, and more. His easygoing manner and dry wit made him a favorite of patients and coworkers, and he had an uncanny knack for getting even the shyest and most nervous kids to instantly bond with him. He was also well known for his giving nature, working with various charities in his spare time and frequently helping patients outside of the office, as well as his passion for the sport of cycling.
Some of us have known Phil for decades, others for far less. However, we can all agree that our lives were better for having known him. All of us at A Step Ahead considered Phil to be a part of our own family, and we extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones. You were beloved by many, and you will be missed tremendously, Phil.
A memorial service will be held for Phil this Saturday the 14th at noon at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, 48 Shelter Rock Road, Manhasset, NY 11030. All are welcome. Please share this information with anyone who may want to help us remember our good friend Phil.
