Amelia’s First Prosthesis

Amelia, an 11-year-old from Georgia, has embarked on an inspiring journey of resilience and innovation. Born with a congenital hand difference, Amelia recently received her first prosthetic—a body-powered hybrid hand—custom-made at A Step Ahead Prosthetics. This life-changing device marks the beginning of a new chapter in her life, filled with opportunities she never thought possible.

Partnership with One 2 One USA Foundation

Thanks to the collaboration between A Step Ahead and One 2 One USA Foundation, Amelia received a dynamic high-activity hand, opening up new possibilities for her. This partnership made it possible for Amelia to access the advanced prosthetic technology she needed to explore new activities and enhance her quality of life.

Amelia’s New Prosthetic Arm

Amelia’s new prosthetic system includes a custom socket and two specialized attachments designed specifically for gymnastics:

  • Free Flex Hand: Provides the flexibility and grip needed for routines like handstands and bar exercises.
  • Swinger TD: Allows for smooth, controlled swinging motions, perfect for activities like rings and parallel bars.

With this new system, Amelia is now equipped to pursue her passion for gymnastics and explore other activities with confidence.

At A Step Ahead Prosthetics, we’re committed to empowering patients like Amelia with innovative solutions that allow them to live life to the fullest.
